Ancient’s Best was first established as a business in Singapore in 1988. We now have bases in both Singapore and in Marlborough, New Zealand and we travel to other centres on a seasonal basis to offer training, treatment and workshops.
The company represents the traditions of Ayurveda and Yoga as taught by the ancients and passed down from teacher to student as a spiritual study with very practical applications to everyday life. The founder, Vaidyar Mani, comes from such a family tradition.
Vaidyar Mani
A Vaidyar Mani is a renowned Ayurvedic practitioner, teacher, and guide from Singapore, specializing in classical Ayurveda and Siddha traditions. He hails from a lineage of esteemed Ayurvedic and Siddha practitioners on both his maternal and paternal sides, with his grandfathers and great-grandfathers being celebrated Vaidyars and Pandithars in Tamil Nadu, India.
Vaidyar Mani’s training is rooted in traditional Ayurvedic principles, emphasizing personal spiritual discipline, self-study, and direct tutelage under a qualified teacher. This approach differs significantly from modern Ayurvedic practices, which often focus on disease management.
In addition to his Ayurvedic expertise, Vaidyar Mani holds a qualification in Marine Engineering. He operated his own clinic, Ayuryoga – Clinic and Study Centre of Ayurveda & Yoga, in Singapore. He currently serves as a consultant and mentor at the centre and owns Ancient’s Best in Singapore.
Vaidyar Mani is an affiliate of the prestigious International Academy of Ayurveda in Pune, India, and has been invited to submit a thesis on his work. He has delivered seminars, appeared on television and radio programs, and been featured in various publications, sharing his knowledge on classical Ayurveda and Yogic healing.
Through his workshops and training programs, Vaidyar Mani has introduced traditional Ayurveda to students across Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, focusing on practical applications, individualized lifestyle guidance, and subtle disturbance correction. His teachings emphasize the spiritual aspects of Ayurveda and Siddha, aiming to help students realize the Self through the instruments of the Body and Mind, ultimately attaining the state of Yoga.
