Ayurveda – the Science of Life
Ayurveda recognises health, not as the absence of dis-ease, but as the quality of the life we lead. Most important is having a good appetite, good elimination of waste, good sleep, and regular exercise. “We are unique so need something different to others”. This is the main premise of the Ayurvedic approach. Just as the saying goes “one man’s meat is another man’s poison”, what suits one does not necessarily suit another. Hence the need to create a lifestyle that is unique and suited to each individual.
Why do we experience problems and dis-ease?
We all experience different problems and disturbances in life and oftentimes do not know why. Sadly, we may be unable to obtain any kind of long term support or ‘cure’ to these problems even through modern conventional medicine. Nor are we able to understand the ‘reason’ for our distress. The Yogic science of Ayurveda teaches us that all disturbances come from lack of understanding of the natural laws that govern our environment and us. The first step to overcome such problems is to gain insight about these natural laws and how they apply to you as a unique individual. This will uncover the root cause of problems you are facing now and are likely to face in the future.
What is Healthy?
There is a lot of information available today about what is healthy, what is natural, and what we ‘should’ and ‘shouldn’t do’. Often this information is conflicting. Some things work for some people but not others. It can be very confusing to know which direction to go or what is right for me? Some things work for some people but not others. All things can be good but they must suit that individual and only than can it be considered Healthy. The bests of food can be poison if it is not correct or suitable for the individual. So the key to good health, vitality, and youthfulness always starts with knowledge of the Self.
What we can do to help you –
In Ayurveda, if two people are suffering exactly the same dis-ease or problem, they will be looked at differently. The symptoms may look similar but the root cause of the disturbance in each individual could be quite different. Recognising and diagnosing this is what we do as Ayurvedic Classical Practitioners. Each person, just like every fingerprint, is unique. Most of us are brought up to deal with problems only when they manifest physically and mentally. We may be upset or angry with what is happening not realizing that it is we ourselves that have started this process, even though we may not be aware of how or why or when.
Ayurveda requires different thinking
Though this knowledge is not new, the modern way of thinking has not prepared us to live according to our own unique nature. Making changes requires some effort on our part and we need to be open and willing to ‘unlearn’!
We are here to help empower and support you to take charge of your Life the way it should be; free of dis-ease and disturbances. Being in peace and enjoying stability and happiness. Happiness is our birthright and whether we realise it or not, we all seek it. The key is in understanding your Self in relation to nature and all that which surrounds us. We shall guide, instruct and support you to attain this understanding and to develop a lifestyle that is curative and supportive. At the same time, those who already have disturbances to a greater degree, will find support through various treatments at our clinic.
What do I do next?
The starting point is having a Lifestyle Consultation to determine what things suit you and what things don’t. It will help you choose foods and activities that are most supportive to YOU, and also what treatment will help bring you back to your ‘natural’ state. As each one of us is uniquely different, the way we live must be different too.
